Sojourner Decentralized Social Messaging

Sojourner is a Decentralized Social Messaging services that is include with the Douglass Browser and the Douglass OS.

Sojourner is named in Honor of Sojourner Truth.

Sojourner Truth was an African-American abolitionist and women's rights activist best-known for her speech on racial inequalities, "Ain't I a Woman?", delivered extemporaneously in 1851 at the Ohio Women's Rights Convention. Truth was born into slavery but escaped with her infant daughter to freedom in 1826. She devoted her life to the abolitionist cause and helped to recruit black troops for the Union Army.

Sojourner Features

  • All Sojourner Private messages are end-to-end encrypted.
  • To prevent spam you only receive messages from people that you follow .
  • Sojourner messages can be public broadcasts or private, and you will only see replies by people you follow.
  • Because Sojourner runs on your Apple device your messaging activity cannot be tracked.
  • Sojourner is aligned with the BCL
  • Because Sojourner data is saved to your Apple device you can add messages offline and then sync then when you have a connection.

To use Sojourner you will need to download the Douglass Browser.

To follow other members on Sojourner you will need the invite code below.

After you have created your users name in Sojourner you will need to use the invite code to join the Sojourner pub. Add this link to your Douglass Browser http://localhost:7777/#/sync

Then clink on the “Join Sojourner Pub” link. Once you have signed up to Sojourner you can follow and post questions to the Douglass and Sojourner channels.
